Join us in our mission to advance women’s health innovation and create a healthier future for women everywhere.
Accenture and Springboard have launched Re-defining Women’s Health, a joint initiative aimed at transforming how women’s health is understood, funded, and addressed. This multi-part series brings together global research, expert insights, and on-the-ground voices to examine the complex landscape of women’s health and identify opportunities for meaningful change.
Part 1 of the State of Women’s Health report (released in June 2024), the focus was on three persistent challenges: women’s health has long been underfunded, under-researched, and misunderstood.
Part 2 of the report delves into a more nuanced issue emerged—many conditions impact women solely, differently, or disproportionately, yet remain largely overlooked.
Through this partnership, Accenture and Springboard have combined top research, expert insights, and real-world perspectives to examine the current and future landscape of women’s health. This initiative emphasizes the personal and emotional nature of healthcare, exploring patient and provider experiences to understand persistent barriers and identify actions that can improve care for women.
“We believe that the most powerful change comes from solid data. Our report provides a data-driven foundation for understanding and addressing the most pressing health issues women face today. The business case for research and investment in women’s health is perfectly clear in this report. Women’s health is gaining significant attention in the public eye, but we need to keep the momentum going.”
The importance of investment and funding from the private sector, which help provide support when public funding is limited, cannot be understated. Private investment contributes to expanding women’s health research, progressing equitable clinical development , and designing technology for opportunities beyond areas classically recognized as women’s issues.
Most research and development is gender-neutral or focused on men. Women are often left out of clinical research, despite making up nearly half the population and the prevalence of conditions that differently, disproportionately, or distinctly impact women. Gender bias leads to delays in diagnosis and worse health outcomes for women. Clinical trials must accurately reflect the population’s health burdens.
There’s a significant gap in understanding women’s health. Medical education often ignores fundamental differences in women’s physiology, resulting in misdiagnosis and lower quality of care. Menopause affects 1.1B women worldwide but is widely misunderstood. The $26.6B economic impact of menopause symptoms highlights the need for better understanding and new approaches.

These statistics are why Springboard exists. We connect women-founded and women-led enterprises to the human and financial resources that are so often lacking in the venture capital community. Learn about how Springboard is impacting women-led organizations and how you can help.
